Crossbows & Accessories

The Most Powerful Way to Hunt.

From compact recurves to high-speed reverse-draw machines — we carry the crossbows serious hunters trust when one shot is all you get.

Crossbows — One Shot. One Chance. Make It Count.

Modern crossbows have redefined what’s possible in the deer woods. Today’s crossbows deliver speeds from 380 to 500+ fps, near-silent cocking systems and accuracy that rivals centerfire rifles at hunting distances — putting more confidence in your hands whether you’re tucked into a ground blind at 20 yards or reaching out across an open field.

At Foxtrot Heather Outdoors we carry a carefully selected lineup of crossbows built for hunters at every level. From the budget-friendly reliability of CenterPoint and Barnett to the cutting-edge performance of Ravin, Excalibur and TenPoint — we have the crossbow that fits your hunt, your budget and your style.

Archery Buyer's Guide

Choosing Your First Crossbow

  • Draw weight on crossbows typically ranges from 150–220 lbs — the limbs do the work so actual cocking effort is much lower with an assisted cocking device
  • Speed matters but isn’t everything — a 380 fps crossbow is more than enough for any North American big game at ethical hunting distances
  • Look for a package deal that includes a scope, bolts and cocking device — CenterPoint and Barnett offer excellent ready-to-hunt packages at an accessible price point
  • Check your state’s crossbow regulations before buying — some states restrict crossbow use to specific seasons or require a special permit

Crossbow Bolts & Broadheads

  • Always use bolts matched to your crossbow manufacturer’s specifications — length, weight and nock type all matter for accuracy and safety
  • Carbon bolts are the standard for modern crossbows — lightweight, consistent and durable enough for repeated use
  • Mechanical broadheads are extremely popular with crossbow hunters due to the high speeds involved — they open reliably and fly like field points
  • Fixed blade broadheads like those from G5 and Rage offer maximum penetration and are a proven choice for whitetail and big game at close range

Cocking & De-Cocking Systems

  • Never cock or de-cock a crossbow by hand — always use a rope cocker, crank system or ACUdraw device to ensure even limb pressure and consistent accuracy
  • TenPoint and Wicked Ridge feature integrated ACUdraw cocking and safe de-cocking systems — a major safety and convenience advantage in the field
  • Ravin uses a fully integrated Helicoil cocking system that cocks and de-cocks with minimal effort and keeps the crossbow balanced throughout the process
  • Never de-cock a crossbow by firing it into the ground — always use the manufacturer’s recommended de-cocking method

Crossbow Hunting Setup Tips

  • Sight in your crossbow at 20 yards first, then confirm at 30, 40 and 50 yards — most crossbow kills happen inside 40 yards
  • Use a quality crossbow-rated scope — standard rifle scopes are not designed for the reverse recoil of a crossbow and can be damaged or lose zero
  • Killer Instinct and Axe offer complete packages with scopes already matched to their specific crossbow models — zero the guesswork out of your setup
  • Always use a crossbow rail lube on every 5–10 shots to protect the rail and maintain consistent arrow flight throughout the season
